I bought this house back in March of last year and it was terrible grass. Overgrown crabgrass, dallasgrass, poa annua.. I'm trying to make it much lower of a grass that has that golf grass look. I have bermuda in the back of my yard and St Augstine in the front. I currently don't know my PH levels or my soil testing.

I had a company locally come out and put pre-emergent down on the lawn and it looks like it's clearing up but I'm still seeing crabgrass still in the lawn and grass not growing in some locations. Any good advice would be appreciated!

Welcome to TLF!
I'd be really surprised that you'd have crabgrass this early, however I did find one mature plant on my lot today, and I put my PreM down in February. Unless you hit 55° within the past month, you might not have crabgrass but another type of weed. The PreM treatment that was put down is going to take care of the Warm season weeds, which is a good thing. You'll need to re-apply in the Fall to take care of the Cool season weeds, which you're more than likely seeing right now. I've still got a lot lingering on my lawn.

If you can get us some clear pictures of the weeds in question, we'll help you identify them.

Get a soil test done by a reputable soil testing lab. Several users have had good results with Waypoint Analytical. Once you get your soil testing done, we'll help you come up with a strategy to achieving your lawn you want. Feel free to ask as many questions as you need and read up on the popular subjects at the top of the Warm Season threads.

If you want a low lawn, St Augustine won't cut it. It survives much better in the 3"-4" height range. The bermuda though, even if its just common bermuda, can be maintained under 1". Aside from killing and preventing weeds, we can be a lot more helpful if you can give us a little more details on how much time, weekly, you are wanting to spend on this, as well as how much money you are willing to spend.

Killing everything, and resodding, will be the fastest way to get the lawn you are wanting, but seeding, sprigging, and propagating the bermuda you already have are all also viable options.
