Excited for this season! I have a lot going on again this year.

1. Improve slopes on the green with sand topdressing
2. Make sure bentgrass is removed in KBG
3. Reno the front yard due to water line fix

I got in a second snow mold app on the green due to warm weather and no snow cover. Expecting more snow next week.

Put down fairway rate of PGR on the KBG last night. Put down second app of 3336/Eagle/HeritageSC of curative on the green. Still had some fungus on the corners.
Looks like a 13 on the stimpmeter 😎

It's definitely rolling smooth. Without a roller I doubt I can get it that fast though. I'll have to make a stimpmeter or find one somewhere. Don't want to pay what they want for a usga new one. I would guess like a 7 or 8

I wish my unit had a groomer. Chopped a big rock in half and didn't see damage to reel, but it might have moved it out of the way. Certainly helpful for what you're using it for. How often do you change the grain of the green?

I change the direction every time I mow. As far as grooming I just started doing it this season. I've only done it once. I plan to do it monthly during peak growing seasons in the spring and fall and lightly top-dress after. I will be grooming this week more aggressively than the first time now that I have experience. This should open up the canopy and allow the top-dress to work in and keep from having thatch issues. I think I will skip aeration this spring since it really hasn't built up a ton of thatch yet. I am building a aeration tool with some spikes I ordered.

Originally I was planning on renovating the front yard to match the back. While I still want to do this in the future I want to get the area finished next to the green first. I want to add a few trees to add shade to the house and also have a tranquil garden area with a water feature. I am going to take this opportunity to test out some RTF (Rhizomatous Tall Fescue) to fill in the trench from the broken water line in the front. I was inspired to check it out since they have this at the PGA championship venue Oak Hill.

Did they say which cultivars they were using at Oak Hill?

I didn't hear them name anything specifically, but as I understand it Berenbrug is the only seed company that has it. Looks like the cultivar is Barmesh. As I understand it they sell a blend of Tall Fescue and it only has 40% of this cultivar.

Put down 1lb .2N/K of 13-0-26 on the green. Put down .5N/K AMS in the Front Fescue.
After doing some reading I believe that I may have been putting too much AMS in the spray tank for green feedings. I had been putting 4oz of AMS in 1gal. Label says 3 Tablespoons which is 1.5 oz. I think that may be the black spots I was seeing on leaf tips across the green. Seems like the pattern was at the edge of the spray pattern where more droplets come out on my sprayer. I left it on overnight without watering in last time. Any thoughts on this?

It is still in the position facing outward. Thanks for the reminder on this! I was seeing some scalping on my udulations. I went back and looked at the manual and I need to flip it. It's on the closer position but facing forward.

Still seeing fungus pressure on the green. Put down Daconil/Velista at curative rates.
Flipping the roller around....might have to try that until I can really sand cap. I wonder what they consider "extreme."
Green is starting to look better with less scalping. This is the area with the most slope and it's not cutting into it as much with the roller position moved. Going to groom and top-dress later today.

Put in a good bit of time in the lawn last night. Started after work and went till dark. Setup the 1600 to groom the green. The first time it did it early spring was a light groom. This time I wanted to go deeper and open up the canopy to topdress. I dropped the HOC to 4.5m since last time I had some dragging. It wasn't high enough since the bed knife is thicker on the 1600. I'm pretty sure my 1000 has a tournament or micro cut bed knife on it allowing for lower HOC. I did some damage on the slope after the bed knife got the mower stuck.

I adjusted the HOC up to 6m so I made sure I had clearance and then dropped the groomer by feel to the turf a bit lower than the surface.

Here is the first pass

Second pass with clippings

I was pretty pleased with the results

I did a double cut with the 1000 to clean up after the groom

Finished off with a topdressing. Put out two sandbags (approx 80lb) with my spreader across the whole green. I put more in the low spots on the edges.

Finished off the night by putting down Acelepryn over the whole yard for grub control.

Looking really good! What spreader are you using to topdress?
