I need to do a soil test. FWIW, most of the TTTF lawns and commercial spaces I see look like this right now. It's like the grass engages in a tremendous growth spurt from March to May and maybe it just needs more nutrients.
We'll see what the soil test says. I plan to apply Milorganite in the next next couple of weeks and that will give it a good hit with iron and slow-release nitrogen.
I'm in SE PA and have had similar experiences the last couple of years with my TTTF. My first mow is usually late March. Things are darker from then until mid-late April. Then I start to notice the green lightening a bit. This is with 0.5 pounds per k of nitrogen put down on April 10.

Soil test will surely say something. I just need to get it done.
