Hi, I'm going to try my hand at leveling my Bermuda this weekend. Any specific type of sand I should use? IE arena sand, plaster sand, fill sand or even top soil? Should I fertilize at the same time?
Also over the winter a large portion of my yard was in full shade for about 3 months and those spots have sparse stems but looks to be mostly dirt. Can I throw down some Bermuda seed in those areas or will those areas come back now that they have 5 hours of sun and temperatures in the mid 80s.
Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Most recommend masonry sand. fertilize after you level.

If you have a hybrid bermuda they are sterile, meaning there is no seed. You have to sprig or plug it. Would not recommend throwing out common bermuda seed either as it looks different. Shade is your enemy to bermuda. If you aren't getting 6 hours of direct sun it probably will start to thin out on you. There isn't much you can do about it. Cut it higher, don't fertilize to push top growth are some cultural practices you can do to improve it, but you are dealing with a short leash with shade and bermuda.
