Methylene Urea, IBDU, and UF are some of the forms of N that do not have their slow release properties destroyed by cutting or crushing the granules. The SCU and PSCU typically used as slow release fertilizers are not slow release once a greens mower cuts into the granule. However, slow release N is unpredictable. Nothing like a set amount of Ammonium Sulfate applied at intervals. I know when AS is going to start working and i have an idea when it will stop.

I stopped by Siteone today to see what they carried. Unfortunantly all the had were quick release fertilizers. They could get me some MESA products but shipping would kill me.
I've been using Lebanon fertilizer with MESA for the last year or so and I can't say that it's better or worse than poly coated fertilizer I've used in the past. The one thing I really liked about it was the SGN was 145 so it settled down in the lawn a lot easier than the large prill SGN 230 you usually get. If you are really wanting to try it out you can go to Home Depot's website and order GreenView Fertilizer and have it shipped to your house or the store for free. I'm not sure what the SGN size is on this but with MESA it isn't as important if the prill gets damaged.
