I've got a 2007 46" Husq with a 20hp Kholer Courage engine with 900 hours on it. I'm the original owner and absolutely love this mower. The Kholer engine is bulletproof.

Every 1-2 years I try to tear down the chassis and do my best to preserve the plastics and metal.

Does anyone do the same? What do you use?

Edit: teh sexy...

For the plastics, I use "Wipe New".

I bought a bottle of it back in the day when it was a QVC product. I applied it to my truck and boat trim and I've been an absolute fan since.

I love it. I put it on all my cars, truck, boat, house trim, everything. Its just a bummer it's such a small bottle.

Looks great. Would not believe it has 900 hours on it!

I got the car wash soap out and washed my ZTR in the spring. I think the neighbors thought I was crazy but man did it look sharp. I like the idea of coating the plastics, I'll have to start doing that.

I had the Kohler courage engine on my husqvarna before I switched to a ztr it is one of the best engines they make. I had zero issue over 500 hours. Its amazing how long small engines last with proper maintenance. I have always used spray silicone on plastics, but I'm going to look into the wipe new mentioned above.

While I'm blowing off the driveway I also go over the ZTR with the backpack blower after every mow. Once a month or so I go over the whole mower with with some type of quick spray wax. Only takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Usually a couple times a year I go over the entire mower (metal painted parts) with automotive wax. I consider my mower a big investment and want to make it last.
