[Edited] Thanks to who told me about the moss. I looked up photos and sure enough it looks just alike. I've been searching funfus so I came up with different pictures. I thought it was a small problem, but I looked up moss and how to remove it and found I have a HUGE problem. I started pulling back the dead areas of grass that I thought were just not growing from winter and found I have moss coverage over every spot that they mulched. The areas that are green are the only areas the moss didn't stop the growth of the grass. Anyone know of a very fast soil test kit that I can get to know if I need lime for acidity? I would assume I do because all of this is in straight sunlight with no water standing on most of the new spots I found. It seems to be spreading to more areas is why I found it. I never thought to pull up the dead grass to have a look underneath.

I've noticed my yard had a few spots that are bare and have turned black the last few weeks with the heat and humidity that has come into Arkansas. Now I'm seeing green spores develop. I'm wondering if this will keep my Bermuda from growing as I'm mostly seeing this on parts of the lawn that the Bermuda never filled in. This yard was pretty much all clover last year. We did a new build that ended in January and they put Bermuda sod in at that time. I've had a large fight with crab grass since I missed my chance for a pre-emergent. So I've sprayed with some post emergent (ortho) and I started Milorganite a few weeks back. Just some background info to see if maybe I'm causing whatever this is with anything I've put on the lawn. I've added images below of what I'm finding all over the yard. I am very new to this as you may see. Since this is the home we want to stay in, I want our yard to look good. Any help is appreciated.

It could have been a problem with my watering if overwatering would make it happen. A couple weeks ago I was using a small spinning sprinkler that I used in my garden years ago. I forgot to move it a few times so it got WAY too much water in some areas. That front high spot is one of those areas.

Make sure to get your irrigation dialed back the appropriate amount. Your Bermuda should fill in over it, but quicksilver works on some type of moss if I recall correctly. Also, you may want to consider upping your fertlizer amount if you're trying to get that to fill and go with quick release instead.

Quicksilver will make quick work of that moss well I know it did for me. It is labeled for use with silver hairy moss but it kicked my moss problem quickly. I have some. I use it to mix with all my herbicide (since I have it). It has been known to prevent chlorosis when used in combo with a herbicide. You need to order a 1 milliliter syringe. Or better yet a 0.5 ml syringe. Yes seriously half a milliliter syringe. It will knock out goose grass as well.
The Bad News about it:
It's super super easy to overdose since you litterally use 3-4 drops per gallon per 1000. Sometimes less. Even with a very small syringe you can mess up and put in 8 drops instead of 4. If you do so and think it will be ok. You will be sorry!
You dose so little it's a question of if it's even worth the purchase. I really don't think it's worth it unless you have tried everything else to prevent moisture. There are cheaper options but it was a miracle worker for me during my renovation when goosegrass took over.

Thanks guys. I did some digging and I had some problems with the lawn as well. My soil seemed very compacted and seems like it is a lot of clay. When I water some of the spots that now have moss it would run off into other areas of the yard instead of soaking in. So I rented a pull behind plug aerator today and went at it. Even with the most weight on it, it was barely going into the yard in some areas. I hit those areas twice. I also raked away any dead grass and raked the topsoil away that was mossy. Tomorrow I will take the tool back to home depot and get some seed to try and grow grass back in those areas. Maybe add some quick release fertilizer in there too.
