·My dad has asked me to help with killing English ivy. It's spreading from the neighbors into their yards and trees. I've tried 41% glyphosphate and it doesn't do much to slow it down. Anyone have any other suggestions?
The fellow at Site One today on the phone told me to remove manually and respray the regrowth with roundup. I politely reminded him that we were talking over .75 of an acre that's thick with this ivy.Movingshrub said:When we bought our house, English ivy had grown into the HVAC units, up multiple trees, up the entire side of the house and into the attic. I had very limited success with herbicide. Glyphosate didn't touch it. The best bet is to manually remove it. For the trees, cut a band of the ivy away around the trunk maybe a foot or two so you can new growth, and let everything else up in the tree wither and die.
I didn't know about this chemical when I was removing the ivy but I would look at giving Crossbow (2,4-D and Triclopyr) a try.
