I got very heavy-handed when seeding my Reno. I was listening to Lawn Care nut where he said throw down 5 to 10 lb per thousand square feet I did about 7 lbs. These pictures are two weeks after germination some areas came in very thick should I thin it out?? Or can I use these as plugs for the areas that came in thin ?? Or should I do both ??? I can see the areas that came in thick are still single bladed but the areas that came in thin the grass has already multiplied to 3 or 4 blades..

Let it ride.

I also "threw 'er down, and hoped for the best." ;)

Hane knows what's up with cool season grass. His TTTF lawn before he moved to Florida was superb.

It'll likely die/thin out next year when temps increase. I have a few areas that are like this all the way back from seeding in May (from seeing on slopes and the seed running together) - I expect to have a lot of problems in those areas next year (disease/die-off). There's too much competition in those areas so it's very matted which is a primary reason why I started mowing at 1" in order to improve airflow for the time being. I'm not sure what else to do other than let it fix itself.

In my opinion KBG is best when seeded at 2lb/k when doing new/bare establishment. No experience with overseeding rates.
