Not really good at grass ID. This grass is growing way taller than anything else so I pulled it. Then after I thought man that sure does look like some good grass.

Does this happen after spraying PGR? It's a few weeks after my first app so I'm still learning. They were lighter color green than the rest of the turf.

Not to hijack your thread, but I believe I have some of the same stuff (someone correct me if I'm wrong - but from the pictures mine look a lot like yours)

I just assumed it was a weed so I hit with my wipe out crabgrass killer the other day and I could see it take an effect on it while my fescue had no effects. So I'd definitely be interested if someone had any insight into what this is.

@Jconnelly6b My ID skill is about 60/40, so my word should not be the final one.
That being said, that does look like ky31. Additionally, the higher rate of growth and the lighter green color are both consistent with that grass type. My TTTF grew about one and a half inches over the course of a month. The KY31 grew over five inches in the same amount of time and under the same weather, water, and fertility conditions.
I don't use PGR, but my understanding is that it can slightly darken the grass.

@jaygrizzle Again, I'm not great with grass ID, but if I found that in my lawn, I would assume it is KY31--but I am less certain about yours.
The, I'm assuming, Quinclorac should not damage the KY31, as far as I know. My guess is that it will bounce back soon if it is KY31.
By the way, it looks like you may need to sharpen your mower blades.

@social port @pennstater2005 thank you both. KY31 makes sense.

The challenge with having a super old turf with many different cultivars is not in the spring and fall - everything is growing and looks good then. It's in the summer, when the older weaker cultivars dry out and succumb to disease earlier than the areas where I've gotten new cultivars to take.

The spots that were bare when I bought the house 3 years ago are now the greenest most healthy parts of the yard.
