We have two acres, half of which is away from the house with wild Bermuda and I am ok with that. I don't have the time or money to maintain it like the lawn around the house. Currently around the house we have fescue but am considering sodding a portion with HGT KBG or Bermuda to see how it fares. I hate fescue, I want a spreading, self healing grass that I can cut fairly low. So my main question is am I fighting a losing fight against the Bermuda spreading(if I don't ultimately go with Bermuda)? Should I just switch all to Bermuda? My only dislike of Bermuda is the brown dormancy that lasts 5-6 months around here.

If there is Bermuda outside your property lines then yes you can either fight it for the rest of your days or give in. Right now I'm hating dormancy as I'm ready to get to mowing again but by October I'm ready for it to come. Keeping reel low turf takes its toll on ya and you're ready for the break come October, at least I am. If you truly can't stand the sight of dormant Bermuda you can always overseed it and continue mowing through the winter.
