I have experience with innovation plugs from sod solutions. they were a disappointment. i bought some icon, innovation, citrazoy to compare the three. the icon had a lot of cold kill, the innovation never really filled in. innovation is finally starting to show some signs of life this June. maybe if you got sod early in the year, it would do better. I’m in zone 8b, coastal NC.

i planted the plugs around May 2024. attached is a picture of how the plugs looked end of May 2025 (i had just put down zenith seed to fill in the spots where the innovation failed, then and covered with peat moss, so you can see the innovation clearly peeking through). Granted, they filled in at lot this month and look substantially better. but overall not that impressed. To the left of the brown stuff you can see the citrazoy. that filled in 100% . too bad you can only get citrazoy sod in florida.

 

I just bought some innovation zoysia to sprig today. The color was the biggest surprise. The zoysia I’m used to seeing was more of a lime green, this was very dark. I was highly impressed.
