Hello Everyone,

I put down seed at least 5 weeks ago and got no rain for the first month so I was forced to rely on my sprinklers. Anyhow it's been raining quite a bit for the last week and temps have been in the 80's for the past couple weeks. When I mowed my lawn last week, it looked great but as I've been looking at the past couple days, i'm seeing something strange.

The blades are covered in a rust color. The grass also appears to be thinning out in those same areas. I pulled one of the blades of old fescue that I've been trying to get rid of for the past couple years from the area. I'm wondering if I need to throw down a fungicide now.

Please see the attached pic.

Thanks

I just did a small renovation and had some leaf spot and rust. First application helped and I just applied the second. I used a hose end sprayer.

There are some good fungicide threads on here. I started this one and went with a Bayer product.

Thanks so that's the plan. Liquid fungicide to stop the spread and Nitrogen to grow it out.
Sounds good to me. Some will say to bag the clippings as well. I did not do that as I don't have a bagger for my push. I'll be buying some different classes of fungicides online as they're cheaper that way by the ounce. And then I can alternate as needed so the grass does not become immune to a certain type.

Good luck

Wow, no comments from the experts?

I'm thinking rust. In which case I could go with a fungicide or boost of Nitrogen to get it to grow out.

Thoughts?
It's a busy time of the year. Extra mowing plus fall festivals, vacations, etc. doesn't allow for instant replies.

I'm not sure what it is. It does not look like rust. Could you post a picture of the area you found this blade?
