I used an Earthwise dethatcher last year. Mowed as low as my Toro would go, setting 3 maybe which is 1.75". It was scalping slightly in spots due to uneven surface. I feel like it did a great job, very little green ripped out. On schedule to do it again next month, I see tons of dead grass amongst the turf. I did two passes last year, maybe could haver gone a third. Hoping the thatch itself isn't as bad a problem. Having only lived here for 3 years, I am guessing it was never done.
