Sorry for the redundancy because I swear this one was just discussed but I can't find the thread.

Can you ID this tall stem like grass that is outgrowing my Fescue. Has a seed head, round and kind of stalk like with a leaf blade down the shaft that attaches in a wrap around type manor.

It looks like hearty field grass of some sort...most likely a fescue seeing the multiple ribs on the blade. If you want to get rid of it, put on a latex glove on with a cotton glove over that. Spray your favorite glyphosate product on the palm of the cotton glove and grab that piece of grass. Doing this takes a non-selective herbicide and makes it selective (kills only what you touch).

This fall might be a good time for a fall renovation. Do 2-3 rounds of glyphosate in August and reseed on September 15. Make sure to use a pre-emergent suggested by your local university in the spring to prevent any of those seeds from germinating.
