Been looking around to buying the greensmaster 1000. How can I tell what year the machines are by the serial numbers. Been googling but haven't had any luck. Any particular years I need to stay away from? Thanks for the help.
*i know the year model prob doesn't matter, but it's just something that i HAVE to know!!!

The model# for nearly anything will often, but not always contain a code number for the date of manufacture., if so, you'll need to find a site that shows the model# interpretation. The easiest to find are for engine model numbers. If it's the original engine, that should be within a year of the machine's manufacturer date.

Example:
https://www.jackssmallengines.com/jacks-parts-lookup/briggs-stratton-model-locator.aspx
Code number for interpreting date is at end/bottom of document

Edit: I should also add that in many cases (especially with turf equipment-like my Steiner) the best you will sometimes find is a range of serial numbers that correspond to a range of years that the model was produced. Then all you can do is go by the engine model number.
