I have a section about 600 sq ft that unwanted/invasive Zoysia has started to take over the existing TTTF.

It looks ugly in spring/fall and isnt the right color of green in the summer

Whats the best way of controlling this, short of removing the tainted soil?

Is there any chemical I can use?
As I understand, the root system makes a simple "Roundup" treatment somewhat futile.

Tenacity or Pylex. This is not a one application or one year program.
Ooof- Pylex is $500 per quart.

Looks like I'll be trying Tenacity on the area a couple times a year.

One study shows anywhere from 11%-45% control per application.

Yes, clearly this is not an overnight fix.

Tenacity won't outright kill much of the Zoysia. It will damage & suppress it, but if you want to get rid of it in one season you have to do 3 rounds of double strength roundup (mixed with Ammonium sulfate or urea) in the middle of summer. You do this around 10 days apart with fallowing.
Then you just roundup the little bits that pop up over the next couple of years and use Tenacity to protect the existing area from being invaded again. I killed about 100sqft of it 4 years ago and very little of it popped back up over the following years.

Round up and a sod cutter is cheaper. I removed 1200 sq ft of zoysia and re seeded with Tttf. I have found some small patches come through with what looks like left over rhizomes and I've hit those again with round up. Hopefully by this fall it will be gone for good

I like the sounds of this plan.
Its $80 for 4 hour rental on the sod cutter.

Roundup a couple times in the middle of summer, when it's growing and healthy.

Then sod cutter immediately after it dies?
Or wait till fall for fescue seeding time?

And then use either Tenacity for control or Roundup for spot killing on any future sprouting.

I sprayed glystar plus around 12-14 days apart on the zoysia. Rented a sod cutter on the day after the second spraying. I've found 3 spots of zoysia less than the size of my hand so far, I've sprayed again with glyphosphate and will reseed this fall. Goal is to find any left overs between now and then and kill while it's activey growing. Fall I will dethatch, aerate, and reseed since prior years I just reseeded tttf.
