Bermuda was greening up quick. Now four early mornings with temps at or just below 32* are expected over seven days. How much will these temps ding the green up?

It all depends on how low it actually gets but at worst it will just cause what is green to go dormant again but as soon as it warms back up the bermuda will start to poke through again. With the sun out and temperatures getting in the 50's and 60's during the day the soil will warm up quite a bit and hold on to heat a lot longer than you think. It's nothing to worry about if anything it might put you back a week or two to full green up.

A little below freezing may weaken the green a bit. In fact, this just happened to my lawn as it dipped down into the upper 20s early this morning, and the green got duller. If it gets down to the mid- or lower-20s, expect most or all of your green to turn to brown/yellow.

We were into the high 20s the last two mornings. Tomorrow and this weekend it is forecast to be at or just below freezing. Late February and early March had me excited
Did someone mention patients around here?😜

I just want to add that after the past week of temps occasionally dipping below freezing in the early morning, just about all of the green on my bermudagrass lawn has disappeared. If it had only dipped down once, I would still have some green left, but I guess the repeated freezings have removed the color. It means I'll be doing another scalp to remove the brown stuff sometime soon.

As a frame of reference here’s a chart showing the outside air temp (in red) versus the ground temp at 4” below my zoysia lawn NW of Atlanta. As others have said, there are fluctuations from day to day, but not as much as you’d think with several days going below freezing and staying below average during the day. The sun does an amazing job at warming the ground. It’s been interesting watching the green change from dull in the morning to vibrant by the afternoon. It’s definitely stopped mine in its tracks from rapid growth I was seeing when soil temps were in the 60s to almost no growth now.
