Hi,

I have a weed that is 2018's prevalent one in my lawn and beds. I have also seen it in many locations around town, plus neighbouring lawns. I have no idea what it is. It was germinating prior to my grass coming out of its winter dormancy. I have tried Later's Chickweed, Clover and Thistle killer, which I've had great success with in past years dealing with the usual broad leaf suspects who dare start to grow in my lawn. The Later's didn't work nor did KillX. I only located a source in Canada of other herbicides mentioned on this great forum two days ago, for products such as: Tenacity, 2, 4-D via seedranch.ca

My lawn's hoc is 3/4", which I'd like to maintain. I have thought that letting it grow to 2.5-3" would shade the weed out, but this is not something I want to do if possible.

I am open to recommendations and interested to know what this bugger of a weed is!

That looks like mouseear chickweed. Compare to the images in this link.

CCO (triclopyr) should be able to kill it. It might take multiple applications.

The product you listed above is mecoprop which I'm not familiar with, but the link above lists it as able to control it based on some rates. Can you get triclopyr in Canada?

I've also been hand pulling them. However, @g-man I have discovered the reason the Later's product hadn't worked, is I had mixed it at too low a ratio. Doh! 3ml per 5L instead of 30ml. I'm SO annoyed at myself right now. I have just reapplied the product, which should see it starting to die off in a few days.
