Personally, I just don't cut it - I leave it alone until temps come back to tolerable. Anyways, it doesn't grow much during heat waves, pretty much stalled (in my case at least).

 

^ Same here. I don't cut it until it's absolutely necessary. Learning how to water properly has been crucial in me trying to keep the grass from going dormant.

 

I'm in West Michigan, haven't mowed in a week and a half. Watering deep as need. Just to put some moisture back in the soil and keep the grass green.

Just remember to raise your deck when you go to mow if you've been keeping it long.

 

No mowing. It shouldn't grow much anyway. Irrigation is the only thing I do.

Define hot enough. Mid 90's all week and just additional spot watering in a few areas. The humidity is high which helps a lot. My lawn had a tougher time last Saturday with high 70's with a stiff a dry breeze due to low humidity.

Heat is not the only variable to look at. A 95 degree day with low humidity, clear skies, and a stiff breeze is a completely different world then a 95 degree day with high humidity, cloud cover, and no wind.

 

Temperature is not the only factor.

 

I would often mow every two weeks in the heat of the summer, especially if really hot and dry to not stress it.

I outsourced my mowing to a lawn care company this year and asked them to skip tomorrow’s cut as everything is already looking stressed.
