Ive done a few smaller reno' s about 2500-3000 square feet. In both cases I used a mix of KBG PRG & different fecues...While the grass is looking good I want to step up my game in the back yard. Im talking a good size about 30000 square feet. More sun than shade but there are a few shady areas. Is it better to have say all KBG or TTTF. I was thinking of mixing both of them. I want to thick full and very uniform lawn. Im no d of a newbie in regards to lawn care but I'm a quick learner and have learned a lot from this site and youtube with videos from grassdaddy lawn care nut and others.

I don't have experience with TTTF but have had NoMix mutt lawns and can say I really prefer a monoculture of KBG. I renovated to KBG blend in 2015 and the uneven growth rates were something that I noticed and so aside from a number of other reasons, I decided to try a monostand this time for better overall uniformity. Another plus for a monoculture is the ease of management especially with regards to herbicide use (annual dose/frequency limits and tolerance).

The reasons to mix KBG and TTTF, in my opinion, are because you want recovery ability. TTTF isn't as good at that as KBG. Also, if you're concerned about disease wiping out the lawn. More diversity helps. Or, if you don't have near full sun even in mid June, as shade can be tough on 100% KBG. The reasons to mix are just as valid as the reasons to not mix.

Since you mentioned him, I think even @GrassDaddy has some PR mixed into his KBG in the back in some areas.
