I know this is more a waste of seed and time etc than anything, but I still like the question and idea.

In my woods there is existing grass/weed grass. When it gets long, I mow it down, this is maybe 2-3 times a year, In the fall, I blow all the leaves off of it, so ultimately, it gets a tiny bit of maintenance, but it is not full everywhere.

I am toying with the idea of killing it off because I am sure there are weed seeds I track out of there when emptying the lawn bag, etc. If I kill it, I want to replace it with nicer normal grass that will still receive little maintenance, but it will look better. Call it full shade in the summer, so I d not know if it is a good idea or one that is truly worth it.

Shade tolerant grass will survive in dense shade, it just will grow very slowly. For that reason, you might consider sodding the area with fine fescue or maybe tall fescue. If you can't find fine fescue sod, you could always make your own. A bit ambitious but it would work. You also want to fertilize it very little since it can't synthesize the nutrients at the same rate.

Would this also be an excellent source for bent grass or is that more likely from my neighbor and the landscapers. I know sometimes when they are blowing out the clippings they are toward my yard...

My wife thinks I am crazy. I am constantly stopping mid stride to pull some bent. It is so bad and I go all OCD over it. So, if I tell her step one is killing the grass in the woods and step 2 is keeping up the tenacity, then I can be slightly less crazy...maybe
