Let's hear your best ones and if you can list pricing some how that would be great. I'm only looking for granule and looking to find that magic blend of lowest price but still be effective.
The granular stuff I have used is BCF 0-0-7 w/0.38% Prodiamine. As I recall it cost somewhere around $20 for a 50lb bag.
For your lawn size, this product may be worth a look. The Nitrogren really isn't needed this time of year, but the pre-e AI is Prodiamine, and a bag treats 5k ft2. It looks like it is on sale around here for ~$11 this month.
I just spent 25$for a bag of Lesco 0-0-7 dimension to do my neighbors. That was contractor price (receipt had some Co. Name). Looks like Ware has a deal there.
Your cheapest is going to probably be pendemathlin or prodiamine, without nitrogen, like the 0-0-7, listed above. Pendemathlin will stain things yellow. You may be able to find a clearance price of granular pre em without nitrogen at Walmart. I saw some crabgrass preventer with prodiamine at a local Walmart that was on sale; it just wasn't the product I needed.
