So I recently bought a JD 325 with the single cylinder 17HP Kawasaki and I cannot say enough good things about it! I just put some G5 Gator Blades on it and cut some grass for the first time as well. The tractor is heavy, stout rear end (K72 I believe), very nice steering, runs super smooth, just a nice quality machine vs what you get today. Has 544 hours on it and seems to run like new. Hydraulic deck lift is nice as well. The two-pedal hydro operation is very handy!

For cutting, it's hard to get a nice cut on a rider when comparing to a push mower but this thing actually cuts really nice! I have the gauge wheels set with three holes showing out the top and I'm really impressed. Cuts even, clean, and smooth. Would this be considered a floating deck? Or maybe half-floating haha? Hangs in the front like the simplicity does and though it is not "suspended" like theirs are, it is free to move up and really seems to follow the contours in the yard nicely.

Just figured I'd post my opinions in case anyone is looking for a nice heavy-duty used GT. I highly recommend a JD 325!

You should have a twin cylinder engine in that 335 no? And those decks are indeed floating designs. Simplicity is the only manufacturer I know of that still uses a ground-rolling design. Your machine should have the tire pressures set to spec, the deck leveled side to side and front to rear, and then set the gauge wheels so that they hang 1/4"-1/2" above a level hard surface like your garage floor. They do indeed cut pretty nice in most conditions.

Some of the early 325's had a single cylinder 17 HP Kawasaki that is supposed to be an outstanding engine! I'll check the level on the deck. Cannot wait to use on our new place 1.6 acres! Close in 10 days!

It ain't the quietest engine but it's damn near the toughest! Those old FC540Vs have a lot of grunt and are just plain simple beasts.
