Seedlings are coming in! The overseed looks good as well but the pics don't really show anything. It's hard to see the seedlings in the midst of the regular grass unless yoru really inspect. The pics below are of the two areas I had to reno from scratch. First germination sighting happened after 6 days, and today is day 7!

This is a super awesome custom blend of TTTF and 10% KBG for good measure.

And of course now that the new seedlings are coming up, my wife is dutifully reminding me that there will be a new pool and swing set going into the backyard next spring, and, if she has her way, a trampoline as well.

Nooooooooooo!

Pete1313 has an awesome-looking swing set & trampoline set-up in his lawn -- did a great job from what I can tell -- looks great, particularly with the curved borders that make it look natural, and the color contrast between the grass and the mulch really accentuates the effect. Might want to check that out for ideas.

There are other pictures of the area earlier and later in the thread, but the one below is the one that I remembered:

I used Scott's Starter fert with Weed Preventer (Mesotrione) and am seeing whitening of some existing grass blades. I have heard of this happening - is it ok, and will the existing grass recover?

I mentioned this in another posting on the site, but it bears repeating:

Be careful using "Scotts Starter Fertilizer with Weed Preventer" in overseed situations, depending upon the lawn type. Folks with significant amounts of fine fescue in their "northern mix" or with a mostly fine fescue area (say an old northern mix which has a shady area which has been reduced to mostly fine fescue over the years) could have a problem if too much fertilizer with mesotrione is applied.

For an illustration of what too much mesotrione (Tenacity) will do to fine fescue, see slide 24 of Tenacity: A New Herbicide for Turfgrass Establishment from Washington State University.

From your profile, it looks like your grass types are TTTF, KBG, and PRG. These should all recover, providing you didn't overdose with the fertilizer and didn't have any spots with excessive overlap.

I definitely also have some fine fescue - especially on the side of my house - but the side of my house isn't turning white at all. Could it be the poa that I had mixed in? If that's it, then I count this an unexpected win....

On a sidenote, I put down the Scott's Starter with Weed Preventer at 3/4 bag rate.
