I know about the teejet nozzle thread. I get pretty overwhelmed quickly in that.
But on a more basic level, strictly a nozzle to match product application, is there a general consensus or perhaps a guide to which type of nozzle (fan tip, coarse droplet, etc.) to which kind of app (weed kill, pre-em, etc).

I've been reading a lot of labels courtesy of domyown.com and am finding liquid apps actually save me money in the long run. And I love my Chapin sprayer.

Example: I believe if I do a pre-em based on rates listed on label, I can get 7+ apps out of 64 ounces. 64 ounces on domyown is roughly $150. Each app of granular is roughly $50 (hi-yield). I have a 10k sq ft yard.
7 apps of $50 is $350!
I know domyown.com isn't the be all-end all of lawn products, but just used it as a measuring stick financially.
So unless my math is wildly off, and I actually like the control of spraying, it's a no brainer.

But I am lost on what are typically the best nozzles to use for which applications.

What pre-m are you looking at on Do My Own? This 5 lb jug of Prodiamine is $65. I've been using it for 3 seasons, two applications per season and I've barely made a dent in it and my turf area is twice the size of yours.

The product label/booklet should tell you if it's systemic or contact. You can then take that information and match it up on the teejet chart. If you don't want to get down and dirty with it you could always use a Turbo TwinJet (see teejet chart, it's good to excellent at everything. The downside is that it's not as user friendly with a wand.

Yeah I like the price that prodiamine. Maybe I am making too much of the post emergent help dithiopyr has. I definitely want a fall app for POA annua. And if I go three apps I believe I am over the limit on Prodiamine where Dithiopyr is more forgiving?

It's really that kind of simple aside from, say a quality teejet vs brand nozzle?

I just been using a fan nozzle so far for my Chapin and dug another nozzle it came with and was an adjustable one. Was kind of interested in what uses that has. I don't want to mis-apply stuff because of a nozzle.

Thanks!

Pretty much. Everyone has different nozzle preferences but once you figure out the chart it's simple. Knowing what to spray and when to spray it is probably more important than what nozzle you use. I don't think you'll mis-apply it if you have your ratios right. More than likely the fan nozzle you're using is fine and a lot more consistent than the adjustable tip.

The domyown website says it has a shelf life of 3 years. I bought a jug before reading that. I am on year 2 of 3 and still have a 20 year supply left. Not sure what to do with it.
It says from the date of purchase, which to me means it is a made up number. Being incapsulated to be water soluble, I would think it could last a very long time if store out of heat/uv.

+1, I think most products, especially WDG's, will last much longer than the arbitrary numbers you see quoted if stored in favorable conditions. I've been working on a gallon of liquid Barricade since ~2012.

Side question: What are your rates? I think the label says yearly max is .55 ounces/1000 sq ft for KBG. If I want to do a spring and fall program, am I splitting .55 in half? What if I want to do a spring, late spring - early summer, and fall program? And does this effect performance of the product?
