How often are you cutting in July and August ?

I have been reading that one should minimize frequency if one wants to reduce stress on the turf during the dog days of summer.

I let the lawn dictate my cut frequency. We've had plenty of rain (Central PA) so it's growing. That translates into every 4-5 days. Keep in mind I like to take small amounts off at a time and keep the yard looking nice. The lawn looks like mid-May with color and vigor.

^ Ditto. I use a PGR and I'm still cutting every 6-7 days through the summer. Once I start the fall N program, mowing goes up to twice a week, every 3-4 days.

I try to follow the 1/3 rule, so I mow every 3 days, to avoid shocking the grass. I mow high and I am afraid I'll get rust or something, if I let it grow too long.

I try to mow at least 4 times per week. I would prefer to mow like 5 but life happens. I'm lawn crazy though.

Wouldn't mowing 5x a week stress the lawn? I usually do it twice a week and this week just once, isn't growing as much and busy with work.

My area does not get crazy hot. Only like 5 or less days we reach 90. I am on the down slope of summer. Temps starting to come down. My lawn is at 5/8" so the lawn is used to being stressed as is.

I would guess mowing too much creates a bigger shock for the lawn, then mowing too often does.

anyone here with 30+ C or equivalent in F wants to do an experiment?

This summer I had (still have to) to mow twice a week. Only applied a 50lb bag of cracked corn around 4th July.

Mowing twice a week, and quite a bit each time. I just been too busy, summer is supposed to be relax time!
