Fall Leaves & Overseeding

Hey Mike - late Aug / early September is probably the perfect time to seed in your location. I'm Southeast PA, so probably similar to you. Also surrounded by lots of trees and get plenty of leaves by October. Those 80/90 degree days will speed up germination. The key will be having proper irrigation to keep the seeds moist and then the young grass going in the warmer temps. Last year I put tall fescue down Labor day weekend and was mulching leaves into the yard by October.

good luck!

@Dan1234 Excellent. Good to know from someone in a similar climate. How's the TTTF holding up in the shade? Is it 100% TTTF? I don't have irrigation set up yet, but I think I'm going to try to set up something like Ryan Knorr used. He basically used to have in-ground sprinkler heads, but mounted on a spike and connected several together with hoses that are fairly easy to move around.
@mikegryo - I actually don't have too much shade anymore and get plenty of sun, but I'm mostly surrounded by large trees on neighboring houses that end up in the yard. I used a DIY irrigation set-up too. Used a sprinkler timer that could connect 4 houses and put two sprinklers on each hose run. It's a pain to set up, but once its up and running its great.
