Hello,
I'm planning out my Fall overseeding (first time as a new homeowner). Our area of the neighborhood has a ton of big oak and maple trees, and the leaves from mid-October to mid-November come down like crazy and basically cover the yard every few days. Obviously, this would be an issue for any new grass growing, both because of the leaves covering the seeds from getting sun, and having to go out onto the lawn to clean up the leaves (we had to hire a landscape company to come once a week because there were so many, and we couldn't keep up). Anyway, I'm trying to plan out the best time to throw down seed, and the heavy leaf cover is throwing a wrench in the works.
Right now the plan is to use a mix of TTTF and KBG (~90%/10%). Could I overseed in late August or early September here in NJ when the temps could still be in the 80's/90's (although, this would be more of a 1-2x per week thing during that time of year)? That would probably give me about 6 weeks before the leaves really started to come down.
The Titanium 2LS TTTF seed from Hogan https://21b9cb9d-3ba6-4d9e-8ba1-b4a...-8ba1-b4a3e6a9fb83.filesusr.com/ugd/bb20f6_1b3b99c52b774732b9e890a05fc51338.pdf , for example, says it prefers soil temps around 55-60, but that would probably be a bit later in the Fall, right?
Or am I overthinking this?
