Ego select cut mowers vs. base model?

Hi all,

Last year as first time home owner and first time taking care of a lawn, I bought the Ego 21” LM2101, which is the basic model with 5.3 ft/lbs torque and 5.0Ah battery. Our lawn is about 1800-2000sq feet between front/side and rear lawns

It’s been doing OK, but it’s definitely NOT as powerful as gas mowers, and it absolutely bogs down and stops working if the front thicker lawn grass is tall, it also can’t really go lower than 1.5” and even at 1.5” I think it doesn’t really cut that low. I mostly bag my clippings I’m my still in the process of killing off as much Poa as possible.

So, I’m wondering if getting a select cut version would help? I’m confused as to various select cut models, the ones with higher torque seems to also have a larger battery. Does it mean if I get larger battery, they all are the same?
For instance 2135 and 2156 look similar but 2156 with larger battery has more torque.

Essentially which Ego model would give me the extra power I need without breaking the bank?!

The larger battery does not increase the usable power of the 2101.
It will increase run time.
The higher torque mowers have more powerful motors, drain a battery faster thus they come with larger batteries to maintain run times.
I've got a 2101 too....
I'm a bit disappointed in its power.
Looking back I regret not buying the most powerful push mower they make.
I have the snowblower, blower, weed whipper and chainsaw.
The mower is the only one I'm disappointed in.
Suction is horrible.

I did buy LM2135 Select Cut, WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! It's now finally a PROPER lawn mower. I sold the 2101, and it's battery separately which made me recover most of my original price. I STILL had to shell out much more for the Select Cut, BUT it would be a long term mower for me now.

So suction ability is much better than the 2101?

Yes. 100%
Thanks... I may just order a 2130.
Won’t be disappointed. Not sure how much is the price difference but 2101 just doesn’t cut it. Pun intended! 🤭
