How much power does it take to turn a verticutter vs reel? I'm aware that it will change at different depths. I was curious if I could turn a spare eclipse floating head into a verticutter only transferring the reel drive electric motor between them.

I think you would be alright as long as your not going too deep.
The electric QA5 cutting heads I have do come with verticut options. I do not have them or have any real world experience with them. The manual says not to go more than 3mm below surface level and less stress is put on the electric drive system if reels are run in reverse direction. That's what John Deere says so YMMV.
