Regarding the Prodiamine WDG 65. The label states max yearly rate is .55oz/1000 (kbg).

Unless I am completely misunderstanding something on the label, I am not seeing any sort of guidelines on application rates.

I guess what I am concerned about is, taking dithiopyr out of the equation for second, can you effectively use Prodiamine 3x a season without going over the yearly limit OR is Prodiamine that good you just need two (spring for mainly crabgrass and fall for mainly POA annua). I am having a hard time understanding what is a good dose per application based on the label.

Bonus: when people or labels talk about "split apps", just to confirm, that's just cutting one app quanitity in half and applying twice in a relative short period of time?

Split apps means not applying the yearly rate in one shot.

You can divide 0.55 any number of ways you want, but the efficacy and protection duration will be lessened the more you spread it out.

I have done 1/2 rate this spring for crabgrass, and will do the other 1/2 rate later in the season for winter annuals.

I don't use dithiopyr, but the popular usage is applying it as a second dose of crabgrass preventive a month or so after the Prodiamine, because it has pre-emergent and early post-emergent effect on crabgrass.

Ok thanks. I did a granular this spring and wasn't too thrilled with the results but that may have been on me with the wacky spring we had in MN and not necessarily the product.

I plan to do the WDG because it is cheaper overall and I have read that spraying is superior to granular but either is better than nothing.
