I was watching the grass factor and had just joined and he was answering a question about mowing and he elluded to mowing every day.

I've been maintaining my lawn at .6" and have been mowing every 3-4 days or so. I aim to mow every 3 days but it's been difficult at certain times due to all the rain we have been getting.

So what advantages are there in mowing every single day versus every 3? I was just under the impression that if you didn't let the grass get to tall to start showing brown and you weren't cutting off more then 1/3 it didn't matter.

Are there other benefits to mowing even more frequently?

Ware What about no pgr?

We went out of town for the weekend and I cut 1 day early and I was hardly cutting anything.
Hard to say - there are a lot of variables. I would just watch the clipping yield and adjust accordingly. To your original question - I don't mow every day, but my favorite cuts are when it doesn't really "need" it.

I try to mow with my rotary twice a week but sometimes it can creep up depending on my family schedule. I have 2 young children who get upset if they don't get to "help". I am not taking them outside for any real time when it's 111 outside. I mowed yesterday late evening, before that the last mow was Tuesday. Before that it was almost two weeks and it took quite a bit longer and had to do a double cut. Felt like I was floating over some of the areas due to how thick it was. That last part made me happy.

Don't mow every day. Unless you are a professional grounds super, think of it like exercise for your grass. Your grass needs periods of work and periods of recovery to really flourish. Give it a day of recovery and water. But beyond that, the general rule is the more you mow the thicker and stronger your grass will be.

I think the best looking lawn is the one that never looks like it needs cut, regardless of HOC. The trick is figuring out what mowing interval for each individual lawn produces that result. Our eyes are the only measurement tool that works here.
