We moved into our current house 27 SEPT 2019. Here is a picture of the lawn we inherited.

When spring 2020 hit, there were more weeds than grass. I hadnt found this site yet, so I hit it with all sorts of chemicals. Some worked, some didnt. My wife and I ended up spending time each night ripping weeds out by hand. When we each filled a 5gal bucket, we'd stop for the day. Shockingly, that process went on for a looooong time.

I spot leveled an area, fired my landscaper in April and took over the upkeep, and fertilized as best I could.

Here are some pictures from 03 JUL 2020

I found this site when I ran into irrigation issues around AUG, and I'm so glad to have this resource!

Here is a picture from last week, as things are declining into fall.

The lawn still has a nasty thatch issue, and feels like you're walking on a wet sponge. Come spring time, I will scalp, dethatch, level and start reel mowing. Will definitely post updates as actions take place. Just wanted to get the thread primed for action!

I was thinking the same thing then realized I could just pull the two female spade connectors off of the back of the switch :geek:
i had realized that too. I went the way that i did bc I didnt want the main wire dangling between the GC and the switch. Once zip-tied to the frame, i needed the QD.
Used the GC for the first time to apply some
crosscheck, and am very impressed with the unit! Even when full, it was easy to push around.

You think the SM was worth the price for you? How long did it end up taking the spray 9 gallons? I’ve been interested in upgrading to a SM vs a 4 gallon backpack but curious of the time saved
@SouthernTiftuf yes, the SM was worth it. Going to make spraying weeds, bugs and pgr so much faster, easier and consistent.
I think it took about 22min to run it almost empty
And that’s with yellow tips? In theory if I ran red it would be about half that also? That’s enticing haha
Red tips? Tell me more…. I’m assuming 2x the flow?
Correct! Looking at the table for tee jet red tips have 2X the flow at 40 PSI so should spray in half the time.

Here is a good post that details sprayer tips. You would have to adjust your walking speed so I am not sure if you made multiple passes or not with the yellow tips. I used red with my backpack sprayer and have no issues

Is that clippings I see flying in front of the 2500? I must have missed it, but how’d you end up finding your triplex?

Yup. The verticutter leaves tons of uglies sticking up, and the 2500 makes quick work of them.
I snagged the triplex at an auction in WI.

Finally got around to fixing a dead section of devil strip / tree lawn / street buffer / etc etc :D

Edit; had to use the verticutter to break up the soil. It was obvious that before we lived here people just tossed sod on dead grass and it stacked up well above the sidewalk.
hauled 5 wheelbarrows of dirt away before putting the sod down.

I like your mulch a lot have you had any issues with it floating out?

The red tips make a difference for you in time?
@SouthernTiftuf no issues with the mulch floating. Although looking at my picture again, I realized that I need to paint my bed retainers black to match the mulch.
Have not used the red tips yet.

The grass itself is still in terrible shape, but these are the first stripes with the 2500e

Everything is looking great! I am truly envious of your triplex. I’ll buy one someday, but I don’t have space to store it right now.

I’m on the prowl for a verticutter or dethatcher. Do you think you can get buy with just one, or do you wish you had both?
