I have looked at the maintenance calendars for Clemson, Mississippi State, Auburn, and Georgia.

I am trying to come up with an annual plan for the next 12 months, that captures the right time of year for which products, including both herbicides and insecticides.

I would welcome input from fellow members. Items to consider - I live in North Alabama. I installed a sprinkler system and sprigged my yard over the summer. The Bermuda is mostly established although there are some areas of the yard that are lacking in complete coverage. I also have settling in the trenches from the irrigation install which need to be filled in with topsoil/sand. The top dressing step is for primarily for purpose of resolving those and will likely be at least an inch thick in those areas; I'm okay with the grass being buried and filling in from the sides. I have a toddler that doesn't understand the risk of ants yet. I am taking the three step approach of adult supervision, teaching that ants can hurt, and minimizing the quantity of ant hills in the lawn through the use of insecticide application.

Nov-17 Post-em with three-way or brushed glyphosate; Winterize sprinkler system; Winterize/sharpen/maintain outdoor equipment; Soil test

Dec-17 Post-em with three-way or brushed glyphosate; Apply amendments, if necessary, per soil test results

Jan-18 Post-em with three-way or brushed glyphosate

Feb-18 Post-em with Celsius, Certainty, brushed glyphosate, or three-way, depending on weather; Apply pre-em of simazine and oxadiazon (this year only)

Mar-18 No herbicides during spring green-up; Brushed glyphosate for post-em.

Apr-18 Post-em with Celsius, Certainty, brushed glyphosate, or three-way depending on weather; Scalp, top dress, and fertilize at 1lb of N per month. (Can I push this to March?); Spray bifenthrin or cyfluthrin insecticide

May-18 Post-em with Celsius, Certainty, three-way, or brushed glyphosate; Fertilize at 1lb of N per month; Spray bifenthrin or cyfluthrin insecticide.

Jun-18 Post-em with Celsius, Certainty, or brushed glyphosate; Apply oxadiazon (This year only; Can I spray oxadiazon on non-dormant bermuda in June?); Fertlize at 1lb of N per month; Apply imidacloprid for next year's grub control (Is this a once a year application or multiple times?); Spray bifenthrin or cyfluthrin insecticide.

Jul-18 Post-em with Celsius, Certainty, or brushed glyphosate; Fertilize at 1lb of N per month; Start applying T-nex PGR once bare spots have filled in with Bermuda (21 day cycle); Spray bifenthrin or cyfluthrin insecticide.

Aug-18 Post-em with Celsius, Certainty, or brushed glyphosate; Fertilize at 1lb of N per month; Continue T-nex application; Spray bifenthrin or cyfluthrin insecticide.

Sep-18 Post-em with Celsius, Certainty, or brushed glyphosate; Fertilize at 1lb of N per month, last application of N about 6 weeks before average frost day; Continue T-nex application; Spray bifenthrin or cyfluthrin insecticide.

Oct-18 Post-em with Celsius, Certainty, brushed glyphosate, or three-way, depending on weather; Raise HOC 0.5" to prepare for cooler weather; Apply pre-em of prodiamine, simazine, and monument.

Repeat except no oxadiazon next year - switch to prodiamine.
This is a good start. Let me make a couple of comments.

Feb. Pre-emergent on Feb. 15 for our area. I would be cautious with the post emergent applications in mid to late February. Depending on weather, in years past, I've seen bermuda starting to wake up in February. Trust me, you will not like the results of post emergent herbicide apps if this is the case. Don't ask how I know.

I always apply a heavy dose of complete fert (19-19-19)in mid March. I don't get a soil test every year -- yes, I know that's winging it, but it has worked for me for many years.

I lay down the N every four weeks during the growing season and I extend that to October first as the last app. While growth has stopped, my grass is still green with little sign of dormancy.. This weekend may take care of that.
