Background: moved into our 1.3 acre house last August from a .25 acre lot. Upgraded into a JD 48 inch mower. Now im deciding if i need a dethatcher for the front of the tractor just to lightly rake up the matted grass? I dont even like calling it that, cause I dont really want to fully dethatch. More or less lightly rake. And getting a larger 25ish gallon spray tank. I think the tank is a must. But wondering your thoughts on the dethacher? I obviously dont want to disturb the soil too much. And if I did, could I get it done before the pre M? That time is soon approaching, but my yard is still soaked to where i cant dethatch anyways. Any thoughts?

Can you set the dethatchers to lightly catch the grass? I really dont want to hit the soil. I dont really like to actually dethatch. Otherwise do you guys just wait for it to wake up more? I guess i have always lightly raked just to get the grass up a bit. With the new place, thats not feasable.
