I've been defeated by Bermuda. My neighbors have some fairly large patches of Bermuda with one having a significant amount. My sidelot is a mixture of Bermuda, weeds, and fescue. For 2 years I have done a really good job of keeping Bermuda out of my fescue. Unnoticed earlier this week that I have failed. I have Bermuda popping up all over my yard. Even where the fescue is thick. I don't care all that much when it's green, but I'm dreading the winter dormant look. :|

Pylex is definitely not in the budget.

I don't know if I'll do anything before fall. I may end up going the "embrace it" route. I think it's a losing battle. Most of the patches of Bermuda aren't even anywhere close to any other Bermuda. Very weird.

Ornamec and glyphosate are also options for a kill. You may kill some of the fescue in the process, but you will be reseeding anyway this fall.

Bermuda can look really nice, but before you embrace it, be sure that Bermuda is the route that you want to go. Once you are cultivating it, the only way to get your fescue back will be to buy a new house.

Your description resonates with my experience. Like gremlins is right. It is a very aggressive grass that can spread rapidly.
You will need more than one application to get a kill. And it can return the following year.
I don't know if you watched the Harry Potter series, but I'm pretty sure that Lord Voldemort put one final horcrux in Bermuda grass.

There are challenges if you embrace it, and there challenges if you don't embrace it.

After a complete reno in 2013 I had bernuda start popping up in 2015. All of the surrounding lawns in my neighborhood are the ones who mow as low as the mower will go every 2 weeks or so. There lawns consist of every weed known to man including bermuda and a few patches of fescue here and there. In 2016 I tried the Triclopyr/Fusilade II route and it did help until the temps were too high to use it without killing the tall fescue and the bermuda came back with a vengeance. Last year in August I hit all the visible bermuda with Glyphosate and went at least 2 feet out beyond that. So far this year I'm not seeing anything come back. For us with TTTF lawns bermuda is a complete nightmare!

@ForsheeMS 's experience was very similar to my own. Merely suppressing the bermuda is only so effective, especially in the transition zone, where a sizable percentage of summer days have temps that are too high to safely apply herbicide.
They are a big risk, and the payoff is uncertain. At least with glyphosate you know that you are making a real impact.
For me, the uncertain product out there is Pylex, which no homeowner wants to purchase. Even if one decides to make that commitment, it is a multi-season endeavor. In fact, I don't ever remembering seeing anything about guaranteed eradication with Pylex. It's been nearly a year since I looked into it, so please correct me if someone is more up-to-date than me.
