I am in the midst of fighting to conflicting battles.
1. POA A
2. dead growth/brown grass
The POA A is obvious and I put down lots of Prodiamine to fight it, so that is done. However, I do also have lots of dead growth. It has been there most of the summer, likely from fungus killing it or something else, but it is there and refusing to go away. I say it is dead because if I take pinches with my fingers it pulls right out. We can potentially call this light thatch.
My question is really about whether I should bother with trying to remove this and risk negating my prodiamine barrier or just leave it till the spring.
Then, with a spring plan, do early prodiamine for pre-emergent threats. Then, once it warms up and dries out, run the thatch-o-matic over the yard and simply apply another lighter dose of prodiamine to add protection for the summer.
The other option is do nothing, but then the stuff stays till who knows when.
