Ive got a JD x540 that I use on my 1.3 acres. I bought it with high lift blades and a bagger. I dont usually bag unless I have been mowing less frequently and need to get rid of some dead grass building up. I bought gator G6 blades that I use now. I have noticed a difference in rpm's since they are a heavier blade. I do keep them sharp but I feel like I am still getting a cut like they are dull. So I'm wondering if its just the loss of rpms? I have adjusted the rev limitor wire position from a post i came across that has increased it a bit. It sounds like it is getting good rpms without getting a mini tach. Im debating on throwing the high lifts back on. But it doesnt cut up the blades of grass as well. Any thoughts?

When you switched from high lifts to G6s, you likely just lost sound, not rpms. I can't see G6s taking more power to drive than a high lift. Highlifts are noisy, all that air flow.
