Looking at upgrading my 1 gal pump sprayer to a backpack one. This is what I am looking at.

I know it is a pump but I don't want to spend over 100 and I only have 3k feet of lawn. This one is going for $50.

Couple of things.
1. Anyone have this pump and how is it.

2. I have just built the DFW wand to go with it. What CF valve should I order. The chapin is rated up to 90 psi. Should I go with a 21, 29, or 44. I already have a 15.

I had a similar sprayer, Chapin's Tree and Turf version, and added a 29 psi CF valve along with some teejets that needed 30 psi. It worked great and uniformly put down a gallon per 1k but needed constant pumping. I only have a 3.5k lawn and am in pretty good shape but I dreaded having to do any blanket apps. I replaced it with the battery version and it just makes it so much less of a chore, even enjoyable.

Keep the receipt and box. Do a couple test runs with water and if it doesn't bother you then you'll be happy with the sprayer. Chapin makes some pretty good products for the money.

That is a great idea. Try it out first with the wand that comes with it. If I like it, then I will replace it with the new one. If not I can return it. Don't know what I will get if I return it though. Do not want to spend over 100 for the battery powered version.

So I went ahead and picked up the chapin sprayer I linked and it works great. I put the DFW wand on it with the 15 psi pressure valve and a purple teejet tip. Walking my yard I can make 2 passes in opposite directions to get 1k coverage out of 1 gal. I like the 2 passes because I feel I can make sure I get even coverage. I also recommend this pump to anyone who does not want to spend $130 and a battery powered one. I did not have to pump that often to keep the pressure up. I do think I will be sticking with the 15 psi instead of jumping up to the 21, 29, or 44.

Here is the pick of my new set up
