I'm looking to seed my lawn (transition zone) with PRG but two separate vendors have different blend of ryegrasses according to the product label. Is anyone able to tell which these is from this year, I'm trying to avoid older seeds. Unless the blend in the older seeds are better than this year's blend.

Hancock Seed: 34.18% Zoom, 33.89% Monsieur, 31.09% Karma
Johnston Seed: It doesn't list percentage but includes SR 4000 Series (SR 4600, 4220, 4350, 4420, 4500 and 4550).

That all depends on what you are looking for and what you consider "better". Generally though, if a supplier changes specific varieties in a blend, the new ones they pick will be very similar to the previous. I was pretty big on prg a while ago and purchased a 3-way blend from MVS. The varieties changed over time (Apple GL > Apple SGL, Stellar GL > Stellar 3GL, etc) but they all performed the same. Same with the 5-iron blend from United Seeds.

The SR4000 I believe is the older varieties which came out in the early 2000s. The varieties in the other blend have been around since atleast 2010. Nothing is from 2025
