I have a Moultrie 25 gallon ATV boomless sprayer. I am needing to calibrate it and after spending way too much time watching youtube videos and reading online, my head is swimming and I am more confused than anything.

Is there a simple, easy way to do this?

I could probably easily cover it with less than one 25 gallon fillup... I have about 12K sq foot of backyard.

I have actually never filled it with anything and ran over the yard, only spot sprayed with the wand.

Okay, I saw the 1.3 acres in your profile so I thought I would ask. There are several ways to go about it, but this is what I would do... spraying only water, figure out how many gallons it takes you to consistently cover the 12k, then just add the correct product dose to that much water and spray.

For example, if you find that it takes 15 gallons of water to cover the 12k lawn and you want to apply Prodiamine 65WDG at half the annual max (0.415 oz/M), you would fill the sprayer with 15 gallons of water and add 4.98 oz of Prodiamine 65WDG (0.415 x 12).

Any plan to fit this with a small boom? Spraying lawn chemicals up in the air so they land in a very wide swath makes me nervous. I have employed boomless sprayers for fencelines and brush control in pastures, but there usually no neighbors next door or else landscape beds next to and/or in the middle of the area. The Prodiamine is not horrible if it goes off target. I am thinking about what happens if Three Way, Quinclorac or any herbicide ending in 'sulfuron' goes into trees or flowers. Most of what we use on grass was initially used to remove vegetation from grain fields or pastures with brutal efficiency.

The boomless nozzle is mounted to the tank at the back of the atv and sprays down in a swath about 10ft wide, not into the air.

Down and to the side? Not nearly as bad. I notice that getting overlap between swaths is not as easy with boomless setups. I have heard of needing to be halfway into the previous pass in order to keep things uniform vs a boom where a few inches into the previous pass is sufficient. I have applied with both.

I'll have to make a couple passes on concrete and see how the pattern looks.

I also need to make sure the tank is clean enough to be filling and spraying the water over my yard since the last thing used in it was glyphosate last year.
