Brown/dry spots in 4 weeks (pics attached)

In just 4 weeks my yard went from being best yard in the neighborhood and then started to notice brown spots

brown spots got bigger
Noticed soil was compacted so I poked holes with a screw driver

We’ve had 7” of rain this month so far so watering isn’t an issue

I mow every 3 days

Morale of all this is I need help to identify this issue.

Do the soapy water test. Pour a bucket of soapy water in the area and wait a few minutes. You’ve probably got some type of pest eating your grass such as grubs or sod web worms.
