Hi all,

Long time lurker here. Sorry for the long post.

I'm in Western Massachusetts, and have 1/2 acre of KBG / PRG mix. I've been slowly reseeding the lawn with KBG, and fighting a long standing battle with creeping bentgrass (fighting with Tenacity) and browning in the summer (recently learning it's roughstalk bluegrass).

I've started fighting the roughstalk bluegrass with Certainty (realizing I have to be careful with the rates and temps and growing season).

My front lawn has looked poor this year, with lighter colored grasses infiltrating my Midnight, and roughstalk spreading. I think part of my problem was using less than premium seed in the past (Scotts coated KBG and some local seed) introducing weeds during slit seeding.

My plan for this fall is to tackle the trouble spots in my front lawn (4000 sq ft) through a combination of August low mowing, glyphosate/Certainty, and then Sept 1 slit seeding / topdressing over the 4 trouble spots (areas of various sizes totally 2500 sq ft), using Tenacity, Milo, peat moss, and Kinder Starter Fert when seeding. Thoughts?

My end goal is the darkest lawn in the summer, with no browning or lighter color grasses. As such, I'm trying to pick a seed from Seedsuperstore.com. I've used Mignight in the back lawn, and it excels in the afternoon shaded area (best grass in my yard).

My front is nearly full sun, and I have sprinklers.

I'm torn between Blueberry and Prosperity, and I have some leftover SS1100 mix from Seedsuperstore.com.

Thoughts? Thanks for the input!

Have you ever looked at the NTEP data for KBG in your area. This is from South Deerfield, Mass. Most recent data was from 2014 that you can click on to check out how certain cultivars did.

I would consider the mix again as it has great cultivars in it. I also wouldn't hesitate to call the SSS to get some advice from them. I've contacted Drew before and got excellent advice.

I think you're right. The color delta between SS1100 and the others is not enough to offset the Rust and summer patch issues. Thanks!
