So I live 3 miles away from a public golf course with 27 holes. All of their greens use Champion bermuda. Their fairways use Celebration.
Every year they core aerate with 3/4 inch cores. Greens core aeration done at a separate time then fairway.
My question is
What do golf courses do with those cores after they suck them up?
Can you do a renovation with those cores?
I have already emailed the golf super and we will see his response. Just wondering if this is something that has been done?

Man that must be nice.. I live right next to one in Moore too, but it probably isn't as nice as the one you're buy.. I'd love to slowly transition my U3 to a hybrid. Let us know as soon as you hear man!

I've played A LOT of golf at a lot of courses and I would say that the majority of them either remove them from the property or just dump them in the wood line somewhere. I too have considered doing what Telly is thinking as it would be a cheap and easy way of getting some Ultra Dwarf Bermuda Grass, which is a goal of mine one day :D

I can't see most superintendents being too upset of someone coming by and picking up some cores to use on their own lawn. It's been done before on www.putting-greens.com.

Only problem is getting my wife to approve of me killing the lawn i worked so hard on last year. I think shes gonna flip.
But hey glyphosate right now during green up and say. "I dont know what happened to my lawn baby? It never came out of dormancy." Wink Wink

Hopefully he will get back to me.

If you get a little plot of it going, no matter where it is, I wouldn't call it a waste. You can always pull plugs from it, as needed, to spread elsewhere.

couldn't you get the Celebration plugs and use those on your unrenovated areas?

Just go ask and I'm sure they will hook you up if you're loading/hauling them away on your own.

Sometimes they get used to repair areas, establish nurseries, composted, or just pitched outright.

Always free to ask and you never know what other opportunities might exist with that relationship.
