I live in the Dallas metroplex and I need to repair an area of my bermuda lawn. When is the best time to seed?
Welcome to TLF!!!!

Was you lawn originally seeded? If it was not and was sodded, you DO NOT want to seed the lawn.

How big of an area are we talking about here? Do you have any pictures? Bermuda has a great ability of filling in any bare spots if it is fed and watered correctly.

Welcome fellow Rowlett resident @JBowen!

Keep in mind that if the bermuda is failing due to shade, then replacing it with more bermuda (either sod or seed) will also fail unless you address the shade. Bermuda needs at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight to thrive. If you have trees causing the issue, you can attempt to thin out the canopy(s), but if it is due to your house (or the neighbors) then you may need to plan an alternative type of grass or landscaping for the area.

If you believe the area is getting enough sunlight, then you will still need to determine what caused the issue, or you may end up in the same situation later.

Shade was an issue, however that has been addressed and shouldn't be an issue. Late last fall, I noticed the grass had receded in a 50 x 50 area. Everywhere else was fine looks great. Maybe I should wait a few weeks and see what comes back. My bermuda doesnt really get motivated until mid-May.
