Last month I heard about a new product called Recognition from Syngenta coming to market sometime next year. It's a "safener" that can be combined with Fusilade to control Bermuda in Zoysia and St. Augustine.

I believe Fusilade can be used safely in Zoysia at reduced rates, but can't be used at all in St. Augustine. Supposedly Recognition will allow Fusilade to be used safely in St. Augustine without damage, and also in Zoysia at higher rates.

I'm excited about finally having something to smoke Bermuda without damage to my St. Augustine. Hopefully it's not too expensive.

There have been a couple of posts on Twitter about it:

Looks like more information should be coming out about it this fall.

We'll dam what am I supposed to do with all this Ethofumesate?! LOL

I hope the rumor is true. Getting Bermuda out of St. Aug is a bit of a pain!
Reading through experiences here on the forums, it seems that the Ehtofumesate + Atrazine combo doesn't provide effective control of Bermuda anyway, right?

I hope the rumor is true, too. I installed CitraBlue last month and some of the sod was infested with Bermuda. I've got some brown patches in my front yard from where I painted the Bermuda with Glyphosate to kill it before rooted. Recognition would've been nice to have.

It worked for me, but it was a pain for sure. Got pretty ugly. I posted before/after that was pretty impressive.
Do you have a link to the before/after?

If what this tweet implies that Recognition + Fusilade II will eliminate bermuda in Zoysia lawns without harming the zoysia and they also imply it controls or kills (what I am hoping for) nutsedge. Not having nutsedge present in the treated red boxes, but still present in the blue box. Game changer at any price in my book.

This is a potential game changer for Zoysia lawns. Super excited about this announcement.

i was at a university field day last week, and the turfgrass team was testing the fusilade + safener on St. Aug. i was able to closely inspect the test plots. the desired turf was completely unharmed, the bermuda was bleached out, but it will require multiple treatments. i even got a chance to talk to the professor about it, and he mentioned it was time for another application. i'm very excited about it

Thoughts on going with Ethofumesate & Simazine now or waiting for Recognition? Any updated release date rumors?

Spoke with a tech at syngenta about Ricognition and they said not till next year 2024 sometime. He also mentioned that it would include the ingredients of Trifloxysulfuron + safener of some type , not sure what that is.
I definitely can't wait for FDA approval of toxic substance and have to use something for now.

I started this last year, and it worked, but I didn't treat 3 xs starting in June, but only once and saw significant stunting of the Bermuda sections in my Zoysia lawn.
I will be using this treatment starting end of May for 4 months to try and eradicate the few sections I have and if Syngenta finally releases this new wonder product next year, I may not need it.
