Been reading the forum over the last few weeks as I'm trying to take my yard to the next level. Currently have around 12,000 Sq. Ft. of TTTF in both front and back yards. I currently have a decent stand of grass, but the wild violets and clover are getting out of hand. I have done a fall nitrogen blitz the last two falls and applied Lesco 0-0-7 .68% at the end of February.
I want to apply a post emergent herbicide sooner than later to control the weeds and want to verify my math is correct. I have a 4 gallon backpack sprayer. I've been practicing, and I'm putting down about .75 gallons per 1K sq. ft. I have the yard broken down into 5,000 sq ft. sections. I have Ortho Weed B Gon CCO on hand. According to the label, I should use 1 oz. per 200 Sq. Feet. Thus, I have calculated, 25 ounces in 4 gallons of water should treat just over 5K sq. Feet. Just wanted to verify this to be correct.
I also have Hi Yield Triclopyr Ester on hand as I had originally planned to spray that to control the wild violets. Since, I am new to spraying, I am a little concerned with spraying a more volatile product. I know you need to be extremely careful spraying ester formulas in warm weather, and temps in VA are starting to creep up into the 70's and 80's are in the forecast.
Any insight to the questions above would be great.
