My backyard is a small 600 sqft. I currently have Zeon zoysia due to shade from a large tree but I am considering turning it into a green next spring. I will be removing the tree, adding irrigation and improving drainage while building up the soil. I already have a greensmower plus the budget to upgrade if needed. My question is what grass to go with. I am in the DFW area and like the idea of Trinity, Lazer or Prizm zoysia. However, I am leaning towards Tahoma31 since it is available in the area and if I change my mind it will grow out into a normal lawn. Plus it will green up earlier and will handle more abuse than the zoysias. Interested on hearing opinions on which grass type to go with.

Me too....if it doesn't work out then make the switch. I always was ready to make a big swing with my turf and it never seemed to work out well...Ive been sticking to more of the trial and error method with much better results.
I would also try with your current Zeon. I have a fine blade zoysia (geo) as well and it has tolerated 0.155 thus far. Imagine I could go lower but yard isn’t smooth enough yet to prevent scalping.
