Hi, I can't seem to get ahold of my army worm issue. I sodded with Celebration Bermuda in Aug.

It was filling in great when I started noticing brown spots here and there. Being on KBG most of my life I didn't know much about army worms until I used the soap bucket trick.

At first I tried a combo of local box store fixes with Seven and Spectracide spray. That didn't seem to do too much so I sprayed some Telstar P on the lawn and it worked for about 2-3 weeks then they came back heavier than before!!!

Seems like they are on a 2-3 week cycle? Is there something else I can do or what? It's driving me crazy!

I started with Imadocloprid early in the summer when I first saw the moths. It helped some but I was still seeing some signs of worms. I started getting mole cricket as well as the summer went on so I switch to monthly apps of Bifen XTS at .25oz/1000sf. It has definitely controlled the webworms. I'm still seeing some very minor mole cricket activity but no worms. Bifen XTS and Telstar P have the same active ingredient but Bifen XTS is a higher concentration at 25.1% vs. 7.9% for Telstar P. I would do monthly apps at the label rate and you should be able to get rid of them.

Thanks! I'll start a monthly program.

I tried everything I could get my hands on and the only thing that really worked was Spinosad. it's actually an organic product, a fermentation/bacteria thing, and really safe. But man, it killed them DEAD. Brand name I used was Captain Jack's Deadbug Brew but there are others. All have you apply 3 oz per gallon of water, at 2 gallons per 1,000 square feet - so a total of 6oz per 1Ksqft. And you want to apply it in the evening, just before dark, to get them while they are feeding.

I applied a second dose a week later, and also put down some imidacloprid and chlorantraniloprile or something like that - whatever the active ingredient in grub ex is. Both of those are not fast kill, but do provide lingering residual protection.

then a few weeks later did one more dose.

1Fastss -- Same here and I noticed that a lot of my neighbors' lawns seem to have the same problem. I just ordered some Talstar P and plan to put it on this weekend, weather permitting. If it's what I'm looking for and does the trick, I'll apply 3 times a year beginning in March (Louisiana).

I'm finding the army worms under big patches of crabgrass in my St. Aug.

Got a lot to learn here! I'll let you know how the first application works out.
