I have not used it but discovered it by other forum post recommendations. The varieties are some top ones from Mountain View seeds found in other top seed choices. The bonus/cost for Artimuss is the added plant growth stimulator that can help new seed root growth. They sell it as a separate product too so you can check out the claims by searching for Gravity PGS.

 

It's not clear to me whether their "sod quality" mixes are actually composed of sod certified seed lots, or whether "sod quality" is just the name they gave the mixes, signifying that they're durable/good-looking grasses.

E.g. this blend: Tall Fescue High Performance Sod + PGS 50lb

A call or email might be in order for anyone contemplating purchase of said mixes...never assume!

 

Thanks for your response. I saw on Heritage website that the seed was coated with Gravity PGS. One of the main reasons I am looking into purchasing it.

 

I personally am going with Resilience TTTF mix for my fall reno as it contains 4th Millennium Tall Fescue and slightly cheaper right now with discounts. But I heard and have seen some proof that Artimuss is really good. PGS is also a bonus with Artimuss.

Beware on Artimuss as it is a thin fine fescue and has problems with matting down and not standing in a tall stand in the yard.

 

I have grown 3 of the 4 cultivars in Artimuss and not had this problem with those seeds. I have had the problem of matting down when there was a soil/nutrient or overwatering problem.

 

Seeded with it this fall for my Reno. Started the thicken up and darken.

 

If temperatures are trending down, you can put the seed down. It will germinate with watering as temps come down. However zone 9+ is fairly warm - have you considered warm season grasses instead?

 

Yes, we have common Bermuda around here. I am sure a sodded Bermuda would do well in the summers here. Interestingly enough, Fescues and KBG seem to be the most popular. My ulterior motive is that the HOA landscape contractor can cut once and I can perform the second weekly mowing. And TTTF seems to look good for most of the year.
